We felt completely safe everywhere we went, and in good hands with our experienced outfitter, George, and guide, Peter. If you are thinking about traveling to Africa, I recommend you get in touch with George Gituku at Sandrage Safaris in Nairobi. He will create the itinerary of your dreams – for just you, or for you and a few friends. I asked many questions before we decided to go to Kenya, and many more before we left, and George answered them all. He met us at the airport on the night we arrived, spent the next day with us in the Nairobi area, took me to his optometrist to fix my bent glasses, lent me his modem for two weeks, bought us a powerstrip to use, shared a final meal with us and dropped us off at the airport at the end. We couldn’t have asked for more.

From the planning of our journey until the moment of our departure, George from Sandrage Safaris has made our safari an incredible experience. The whole trip was extremely well organized. George knows exactly where to go, in which accomodation to stay, and for how long. Despite our short stay, we feel that we have seen all of Kenya’s highlights. And although our itinerary was intensive, we found it very relaxing because everything was so well taken care of. Our 10 day trip felt like a 3 week holiday. Most important, we felt very welcome by both George and our guide. As we experienced, having a professional guide is a must and enriches the experience. Thanks again for everything, we hope to come back again soon.
I highly recommend booking your Kenya safari with Sandrage Safaris. Our trip couldn’t have been organized better! George tailored our trip exactly to our wishes and our budget. He has been working in Kenyan tourism for more than 15 years and that really shows. He has in-depths knowledge about all locations and has good relationships with the hotels and lodges. Because there is no big tour operator in between we got excellent value for our money. We expected the trip to be great, but it was even much better!
We were picked up from the airport and brought to our hotel. The next day, George gave us a customized city tour of Nairobi.
Besides the ‘usual’ sights, he showed us coffee and tea plantations (because in one email I had mentioned that I would like to see some) and he brought us to a local market. George manages the delicate mix between being extremely professional and at the same time so welcoming and friendly, that you feel like an old friend is showing you his home town.
The next day we were picked up by our guide/driver Evans to venture on safari for the next 8 days. Evans is an extremely considerate and knowledgeable person. It was an absolute pleasure to travel with him. He is one of the ‘gold standard’ guides, who not only know to spot the ‘big five’, but who also knows all about the Kenyan flora and fauna. He has a passion for wildlife, and it infected us.
Kenya’s countryside and its wildlife are absolutely stunning. We saw the big five, but what was probably even more impressive was to see so many huge herds of animals from close by. Since we were on a private safari, we got also a chance to relish the vastness and silence of the savannah. Thanks to the impeccable organization of Sandrage Safaris we enjoyed every minute of our trip. They really did their utmost to make our time pleasant.
When we decided to go on safari in Kenya we didn’t really know were to start and luckily came across Sandrage Safaris a tour operator based in Nairobi. They were a complete pleasure to deal with and tailored our trip to our needs wants and desires leaving no one disappointed. They arranged everything from airport pick ups, accommodation, internal flights and safari drives and ensured that our trip was stress free and pleasurable at all times. We sent 5 days in Mara and we left everything to George from Sandrage Safaris to organise, he arranged for us to stay in Kichwa Tembo, in luxury tents, the facilities were luxurious with all the comforts of a regular hotel room but with the feel of an authentic Safari experience with wildlife rambling freely around the camp. The staff were friendly and eager to help out with anything we required. The buffet meals were delicious and varied, catering for everyone’s tastes even the vegetarian in our group and the picnic breakfast/lunch options were decadent in this setting. Our guide Elly’s passion for wildlife was infectious and his wealth of knowledge left no question unanswered and ensured that we seen everything there was to see. He without doubt made our holiday a dream come true and left each of us with a desire to return next year. In my opinion Sandrage Safaris should adopt the tagline “Hakuna Matata” because to them nothing was a problem, no request was to big for them to deliver on.

First, let me encourage, support, and say thanks and best wishes to George for his current endeavor and his organizational skills. My wife and I joined my college roommate for what became , “The Big Red Safari.” After years of persuasion, and my imminent retirement from practice, we joined my roommate several years ago and his wife at their favorite hobby, Kenya / Tanzania Safari. Tom’s passion and years of frequent visits to Kenya for photo safari were handled expertly in every detail by George. When we committed to go, we made suggestions about food, lodging, expectations, transportation, and miscellaneous details to guide George’s planning for our trip. It was seamless.
He not only met our desires, but made fruitful suggestions and offered alternatives activities and options. We experienced a plethora and almost complete inventory of African wildlife – mammals, birds, and reptiles, daytime or nocturnal, and his cultural and scientific knowledge of the various species was most helpful. George’s suggestions about ‘dress – hot / cold, dusty / rainy – were spot on, and his willingness to start early and stay late to encompass a full three week African experience was outstanding.
Oh…….. as to why it was called the Big Red Safari? All the ladies on the trip save one was redheaded. My roommate and I are negotiating a time for another photo safari, and I would strongly support asking George to arrange all of the myriad of details for that trip. We would like to wish George great success in his business, and will certainly not only want to take advantage of his expertise, but would strongly recommend his services anyone interested in a Kenyan / Tanzanian photo safari.
